Career Resources- Michigan State University and other websites.

As graduation comes creeping around the corner for the 2023 Spring semester graduates, many are still looking for a job. I found looking for a job with OPT to be quite stressing, especially as I am not a STEM major. At first, looking for jobs with the, seemingly, limited resources by myself using websites such as Handshake, LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, etc. seemed really vexing, but I found some websites, and got help from the career services that helped me a lot.

First off, the career services website has numerous tools to help international students.

I would like to point out to two different resources from this website.

  1. GoinGlobal
  2. What can I do with this major?

As an international student, I found GoinGlobal really helpful, because it showed different options for international students. One could choose which specific countries, search for internships, and see a whole database of different companies supporting OPT and H1B.

What can I do with this major also was very helpful as I am not a business or a STEM major, and could not really ask around to enquire about which jobs I could take. I wasted a few interviews because of this, as neither I nor the interviewer knew whether the specific job would be eligible for OPT. When I asked around, only answers I could get was that the job I get had to be directly related to my major. Just what is directly related to my major was left to my imagination. What can I do with this major function on the MSU career website shows what fields I could go into with my major.

For those wanting to study more at graduate schools,

https://www.gradschools.com/

is a great website to see which schools have the best programs for specific field of studies.

To finish off, I would like to post some Korean American websites. I found jobs on these websites to be more responsive to applications than other websites.

  1. https://www.radiokorea.com/
  2. https://heykorean.com/
  3. https://jobkoreausa.com/

RadioKorea is a website for the West coast (LA, etc.) and has a lot of job openings for different majors.

HeyKorean and Jobkoreausa are both similar and have job openings for different majors across the United States.
