책 읽기 가장 좋은 계절은 가을이라고 말한다. 하지만 학생들에게 여름 방학만큼 책 읽기 좋은 시기가 또 있을까? 가족, 친구들과 떠난 여행지 또는 카페에서 시원한 아이스 커피를 마시며 책과 함께 시간을 보낸다면 더할 나위 없이 완벽한 여름일 것이다.
그런데 어떤 책을 읽어야 할지 고민된다면, UC 버클리가 추천하는 여름 리딩 리스트를 살펴보자.
UC 버클리는 1985년부터 매년 가을학기에 입학하는 신입생들이 읽으면 좋을 책의 리스트를 제공하고 있다.
올해 입학하는 신입생들이 읽을 책들의 테마는 “한 세대 안에 무엇을 바꿀 수 있을까?(What Can We Change in a Single Generation?)”이다. UC버클리 신입생 뿐만 아니라 책을 좋아하는 사람들이라면 누구든지 한 번 확인해 볼 만 하다. 올해 선정된 30권의 책들을 소개한다.
